As the mother of a child with significant learning and developmental disabilities, Betty experienced firsthand what it feels like to search for the right support, only to encounter gaps, inconsistencies, staff turnover, inadequate services, and systems that were not always equipped to meet her daughter where she was.

But Betty refused to accept that her daughter's challenges determined the limits of her future. She began looking beyond what others said was possible.

At home, Betty implemented structured, relationship-based approaches tailored to the way her daughter learned. Slowly, she began seeing something powerful: progress. Her daughter was capable of achieving more than others expected when she was given the right environment, the right support, patience, consistency, and people who believed in her potential.

That experience changed everything. Betty realized that her family was not alone. Across communities, parents of children with autism, developmental differences, disabilities, and unique learning needs were fighting similar battles searching for services, advocating to have their children understood, navigating disconnected systems, and wondering whether there was somewhere their child could truly belong.

Betty knew there had to be another way, so she decided to help create one. Kids Way Maker Academy was born from a mother's determination and built upon a simple but powerful belief:

Today, Betty's personal journey has become a larger mission to bridge the gaps that once affected her own family and create a place where children are not defined by a diagnosis, disability, behavior, or limitation.

At Kids Way Maker Academy, education, therapeutic support, sensory-aware environments, life skills, family partnership, and individualized care come together around the needs of the whole child. Betty understands that when a child has unique needs, the journey belongs to the entire family.

Her vision is to create the kind of place she once searched for herself: a community where parents feel heard, children feel seen, differences are understood, and progress is measured not by comparison to someone else, but by the individual potential within each child.

What began as Betty fighting to make a way for her daughter has become her commitment to make a way for countless others.
